BRAMPTON, ON, August 4, 2026: The Brampton Blitz have confirmed a 15-player squad for the second season of the Canada Super 60, with England wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow signed as the franchise’s marquee player.
The squad was finalised following the league’s Season 2 Player Draft, which concluded on July 20 and assigned rosters to all six men’s franchises. The Blitz, who won the inaugural title at BC Place in October 2025, will begin the defence of that trophy when the ten-over competition returns to the Vancouver stadium from September 29 to October 4.
Bairstow is joined at the top of the order by wildcard selections James Vince and Martin Guptill, both of whom featured in the championship-winning campaign. Guptill remains New Zealand’s leading run-scorer in T20 internationals, while Vince has spent more than a decade opening and batting at three across England’s domestic and franchise circuits.
Six players from last season’s squad return: Guptill, Vince, Scotland all-rounder Chris Greaves, Canadian seamers Dillon Heyliger and Rishiv Joshi, and Canadian batter Yuvraj Samra.
Four internationals added to the bowling attack
The Blitz used their four international draft picks on Tom Curran, Tymal Mills, Hardus Viljoen and Ben Raine, giving the side one of the deepest seam attacks in the competition.
Mills, a left-arm fast bowler, has built a franchise career around death-overs specialism and has appeared for England across two T20 World Cup cycles. Viljoen brings right-arm pace and experience across the South African, English and subcontinental circuits. Curran, an England white-ball international and a fixture on the global franchise circuit, offers fast-medium variation alongside lower-order hitting. Raine adds right-arm medium-fast control and is one of only two left-handed batters in the squad.
Combined with Heyliger and Joshi, the selections leave the Blitz with six frontline pace options, two of them left-arm. In a format that allows a maximum of two overs per bowler, that depth gives the Blitz a wide set of matchups to work with.
Greaves carries the specialist spin responsibility as the squad’s only frontline slow bowler. His leg-spin was a regular middle-overs option for the Blitz last season. Guptill’s occasional off-break and Ajayveer Hundal’s medium pace provide back-up if conditions inside the closed roof at BC Place favour a change of pace.
Five Canadians named in the squad
Heyliger, Samra, Joshi, Finley Dixon and Hundal make up the Canadian contingent, matching the five-player allocation available to each franchise under the draft rules.
Samra and Dixon were both listed among the notable Canadian selections in the league’s post-draft announcement. Hundal, a right-handed batter who bowls occasional medium pace, is one of a group of emerging domestic players the league has identified as beneficiaries of the format.
Three associate-nation players complete the roster: Greaves, United States batter Matthew Tromp and Jersey batter Asa Tribe.

The squad comprises one wicketkeeper-batter, seven batters, four all-rounders and three specialist bowlers, drawn from seven countries. Thirteen of the 15 bat right-handed. The captain for Season 2 has not yet been named.
A stronger league-wide talent pool
The Season 2 draft produced what the league described as its strongest collection of talent to date, with Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell, Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan, Sikandar Raza and Colin Munro among the names spread across the six squads.
League partner Yuvraj Singh said the combination of established internationals and emerging Canadian players had given the second edition every prospect of surpassing the first. Assistant tournament director Kyle Coetzer said the calibre of talent secured by the franchises reflected growing international confidence in the league.
Season 2 will again be staged entirely at BC Place, which hosts seven FIFA World Cup fixtures earlier in 2026. The league has said the women’s teams, the full match schedule and the accompanying entertainment programme will be confirmed closer to the tournament.
The defence begins in Vancouver
The Blitz beat the Montreal Royal Tigers in the Season 1 final at BC Place on October 13 to become the inaugural Canada Super 60 champions, having lost only twice across the tournament.
Retaining the title will be harder. The franchise enters Season 2 as the team every side has measured itself against for ten months, and five of the six squads have been strengthened significantly since the first edition.
What the Blitz have built through this draft is a side designed for the conditions they know best: quick bowling in short bursts, aggressive top-order batting, and a Canadian core that has already won at BC Place once.
